Hello and welcome to my next post in my European Alphabet Challenge story. I am currently in Germany with Dortmund and from the last post, you saw that we were 2nd following the winter break. Here’s how we got on for the remainder of the Bundesliga season:
It looks like my new full-backs I signed have done well and we have won most of our games. We had a worrying dip in the middle where we registered 1 win in 5 games in al competitions however we got back on track for the remainder of the season. We overcame Bilbao in the Champions League 1st Knockout Round winning 5-4 on aggregate, however we saw our Champions League journey come to and end at the hands of Manchester City in the Quarter Finals. In the German Cup, we overcame St.Pauli in the Quarter Final, Stuttgart in the Semi Final and Bayern in the Final. This means we won the German Cup!
However did we win the league too?
We did! We won it by a slim margin and I am very happy to have done so. This means we are entered into the German Super Cup Final where we face…. you guessed it, Bayern Munich, (shown later in the post).
Now, the German Super Cup. Alex Bell’s loan ended meaning my DR position was left empty, however I signed him permanently for just over £6m meaning we have him for the Super Cup. He was the only player we signed before the match and as you saw him in the previous post, I wont need to show him again.
How did we get on?
We did it! We won the German Super Cup with a 3-2 victory over Bayern. We went 0-2 down after just 25 minutes and I did think that I would spend another season in the Bundesliga. However a brace from Sasha Schon and a goal from world-class midfielder Wiegers all coming in the second half meant that we earned ourselves a terrific 3-2 victory.
Now, some news on my nest destination, Greece.
I was just about to become the manager of Atromitos, who came 6th last season, when the Olympiakos manager left his post! Obviously I applied and delayed Atromitos’ offer and luckily, I got offered the Olympiakos job!
I was offered a budget of £8.25m with about £70k in wages, which really pleased me. I will show signings in the next post so for now…
Thanks for reading and please comment/vote!
